Geiner Huertas and Rodolfo Alvarado have spent over a decade as certified naturalist guides in the Sarapiquí rainforest corridor. Their 5-hectare cacao reserve — adjacent to a 600+ hectare private forest — is where authentic conservation meets artisan chocolate-making tradition.
Every tour directly funds wildlife conservation and sustainable rural livelihoods in one of Costa Rica's most biodiverse regions.
The Salicetti Legacy
At the close of the 17th century, Don Francisco Salicetti — great-grandfather of the family behind this farm — arrived in Sarapiquí to establish cacao plantations, founding the hamlet of Chilamate. That pioneering spirit lives on in every tour we lead today.
